If you have written or are planning a non-fiction work that you'd like to submit to us, please send the following information:

• Description of the book - Describe, in a page or two, the essence of the book. This description should give us a good understanding of the book and should position the book as favorably as possible - think of this as the back cover/inside flap description of the book.
• High-level table of contents - Provide your thinking on the overall flow of the book. This should be only a page or two.
• Target market for the book - Who is the target market for this book? "Everyone" is not a good answer. The target market should be specific and clear. Explain why this book will have great appeal to the target market.
• Relationship of the book to the competition - What are the main competitors to this book and how will this book distinguish itself from the competition? Every book has competitors, so you will need to do the legwork to find your competition, review the books, and assess how you will effectively differentiate your book against theirs.
• Useful endorsements - If you have personal relationships that are likely to result in endorsements for the book from qualified/well-known individuals, please let us know.
• Resume and qualifications - Your expertise is a critical selling point for the book. So tell us why you are uniquely qualified to write this book. Also list your publishing credits, if any.

This entire package should just be 5-10 pages. If we like what we see we'll ask for a detailed table of contents and a sample chapter. Please do not send a manuscript until we ask for one. We prefer exclusive submissions and will respond quickly to them.

The proposal should be printed in 12-point type, double-spaced on letter-sized unlined white paper. The Internet is great, but we prefer to review proposals on paper so, please, no fax or e-mail submissions. We get a lot of proposals and they need to be easy to read and take notes on.

We review every proposal we receive and respond as quickly as possible. We aim to respond to all book concepts/proposals in three to four weeks. If we haven't gotten back to you in that time, it means we are swamped.

Please send only copies of your materials, no original manuscripts or artwork. We will not be held liable for materials lost or destroyed in the mail.

If you want your work returned, please enclose a properly sized self-addressed, stamped envelope with your proposal. If you don't include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, we'll assume you want us to keep your proposal on file.
